Alice Guo In Indonesia, Palace Orders Cancellation Of Her Passport

Dismissed mayor Alice Guo is now in Indonesia.

Alice Guo, the dismissed Bamban Mayor, is in Indonesia and the Office of the President ordered for her passport’s cancellation.

Previously, Senator Risa Hontiveros showed documents showing Alice Guo has left the country. She went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia using her Philippine passport. After this, she flew to Singapore and met her father Guo Jian Zhong, mother Lin Wen Yi, her brother Wesley Ong, and Cassandra Ong.

The ousted mayor, otherwise known as Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, bypassed travel checks as per the Bureau of Immigration. She did undergo immigration authorities as per BI and travelled illegally. Her exit was also confirmed by the immigration records of foreign counterparts.

As per the latest report, the dismissed Bamban mayor is now in Indonesia and arrived there on August 18. As much as we all know, Guo is accused of facilitating the operation of an illegal POGO hub in Bamban and is also facing a Php 500,000.00 tax evasion case filed by the BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue).

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval shared that after Malaysia and Singapore in July, she’s now in Indonesia. She was able to escape despite being listed in the immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

In a formal letter to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of the President ordered the cancellation of her passport and the passports of her siblings and businesswoman Cassandra Ong.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin cited Republic Act No. 11983 or the New Philippine Passport Act where a DFA official can “cancel a passport in the interest of national security”.

Being a fugitive from justice is also a ground for one’s passport to be canceled. DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla also said in a statement that those who helped the illegal exit of Guo will be held accountable.

The BI is closely working its foreign counterparts to track the travels of the dismissed mayor.
