Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Brother’s Proposal for Random Drug Testing among Gov’t Officials
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President expressed her agreement on the proposal of a random drug testing of the government officials.
One of the bills filed in the House of Representatives is a bill seeking for random drug testing among the government officials. Davao Representative Paolo Duterte filed the House Bill No. 10744.
Under the House Bill No. 10744 filed by Davao Rep. Pulong Duterte, the random drug testing will use the hair follicle samples of the government officials. In case a government official tests positive, he/she will have to undergo the confirmatory urine drug test.
Furthermore, the proposal also includes the candidates of the electoral post to undergo voluntary hair follicle drug test within 90 days before the election. The bill gained the support of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed support to the House Bill No. 10744 seeking random drug test among the government officials saying that it is a way to make sure that the public officials are in the right state of mind.
“Yes of course. Unang-una dapat panigurado nating lahat na nasa tamang pag-iisip ‘yung ating mga public officials, kasama na ako doon,” the Vice President said.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, she has agreed to some people’s call for her and her team to take a drug test. Based on the report, the Vice President said that they are just setting the schedule for it.
Duterte stressed that there must be a third party in the testing and not just one laboratory will read the results for validity. Amid the proposal in the House of Representatives, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte previously accused Pres. Bongbong Marcos of drug use.
Currently, there are a lot of questions between the ties of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The Vice President resigned from Marcos’ Cabinet.
