PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Friday (August 16, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that southwest monsoon or habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain over extreme Northern Luzon but fair and warm Friday are expected in non-mountainous areas in Luzon.
The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the whole Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Metro Manila, and the rest of the country.
Estareja said that hot and humid weather will prevail over the next two days.
“Maaaring magkaroon tayo ng monsoon break na tinatawag or wala tayong aasahang habagat over the next two days.
Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the entire country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
