Pres. Bongbong Marcos Orders Raise in Government Workers’ Salaries
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President issued an executive order increasing the salaries of government workers and adding additional allowance.
The inflation rate which refers to the change in the prices of the basic goods and commodities in the country is taking an upward trend for several years now. Thus, the cost of living in the Philippines is also taking an upward movement.
Due to the high prices of basic goods and commodities in the Philippines, countless Filipino families are faced with a constant struggle with regards to providing food in the table. It also became even harder for poor Filipinos to send their children to school. In the household, the food is the top priority and all the others just follow.
Amid the prevailing economic circumstances in the country, Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered the increase of the salaries of the government workers. Based on a report on GMA News, the Chief Executive also ordered additional allowance for the workers in the government.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced that Pres. Bongbong Marcos issued the Executive Order No. 64 which mandates a raise on the salaries of government workers and the provision of additional allowance. Based on the report, the order was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by authority of the President.
Pres. Marcos stressed the “prevailing economic circumstances” specifically noting that the people who get to purchase what they need now become lesser in number as the reasons behind the move. He stressed that there is a need to update the wages and benefits of the government workers to ensure the continuity of a competent workforce.
Based on the report, the order is in line with the pursuit of increased productivity and higher-quality quality of public service through the promotion of integrity, social justice, accountability, efficiency, and excellence.
The salary increase order is set to take effect immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
During the third State of the Nation Address or SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the Chief Executive made mention of raising the salaries and benefits for the educators. He stressed that it is in line with boosting the quality of education in the country through taking care of the educators who delivers the services to the students.
Marcos also announced the ban of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGOs which were linked to several illegal issues in the country. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has started profiling the POGO workers in the country for possible re-employment as 22,000 Filipinos are expected to lose their jobs when POGOs will shut down in the country.
