Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on New Directive from PNP
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President confirmed that the PNP has ordered the relief of 75 cops assigned for her security.
In most governments, there are members of the security workforce who are assigned to ensure the safety of the leaders of the nation. Most of these leaders usually engage with countless people and, in some cases, they get threats due to various reasons thus there are cops who are tasked to focus on their safety.
However, recently, the Philippine National Police (PNP) issued a directive reportedly due to lack of personnel. It relieved some of the cops assigned for the security of the Vice President and those who were relieved were reassigned.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed tha 75 cops assigned for her security were relieved. Meanwhile, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President assured that such move will not affect her work. Vice Pres. Duterte resigned from being the DepEd secretary.
Vice Pres. Duterte also resigned as the vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
Amid the lessening of her security detail, the Vice President said that she will continue with her work to extend services to the Filipino people most especially to those who are living in far-flung areas in the country.
According to the Vice President, she hopes that the new directive from the PNP will help in combatting the drug problem in the Philippines as well as easing the number of people who fall victim to crimes.
Based on the report, PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil said that some of the 75 cops formerly assigned for the security of the Vice President but were relieved will be reassigned to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Presidential Security Command Commander Brigadier Gen. Nelson Morales assured that the PSC is ready to make sure that Vice Pres. Duterte is secured and safe. Marbil said that the move was explained and coordinated to the Vice President’s office.
Duterte recently skipped the Marcos SONA 2024 and went to Bohol to pay respect for the death of its Vice Governor. Prior to it, she already announced that will not attend the State of the Nation Address of the President as she appointed herself as the “designated uniform”.
Currently, there are questions on the real ties between Marcos and Duterte. The Vice President previously said that there are both personal and work reasons behind her decision to leave the helm of the education department.
