PAGASA Says Typhoon Carina to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Carina will bring rains over some parts of the country.
On Tuesday (July 23, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Carina will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA reported that Typhoon Carina maintained its strength on Tuesday while moving north-northwestward as 10 areas were placed under Signal No. 1.
The center of Typhoon Carina was estimated at 380 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph. It was moving north-northwestward at 10 kph.
Carina enhances the southwest monsoon, which will trigger moderate to intense rainfall over the western portion of Luzon. It is expected to make landfall in the northern portion of Taiwan on Wednesday evening and will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning.
The weather agency has also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 in the following areas.
• Batanes
• Babuyan Islands
• Northern and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan
• Eastern portion of Isabela
• Northern portion of Apayao
• Northern portion of Ilocos Norte
• Northern portion of Aurora
• Polillo Islands
• Calaguas Islands
• Northern portion of Catanduanes
The enhanced habagat will bring moderate to intense rainfall over various localities in the western portion of Luzon. It will also bring cloudy skies and rain showers over the rest of the country.
Monsoon rains are expected over the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Northern Palawan including the Calamian and Cuyo islands.
Habagat will bring occasional rains over Metro Manila, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aklan, Antique, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Bicol Region, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Quezon, Northern Samar, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, the rest of MIMAROPA, and the rest of Western Visayas.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.
The coastal water condition over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon, and the western seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon will be moderate to rough.
The southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, the western and eastern seaboards of Visayas, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao will have moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
