Frustrated Man Kills Black Cat in Bacolod City Over Game Loss

BACOLOD CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – A frustrated man took his anger out on a black cat after losing an online game.

During the Middle Ages, black cats were often linked to witches and the supernatural. They were believed to be witches’ familiars or even shape-shifted witches themselves. This association contributed to the idea that black cats were omens of misfortune or evil.

In various cultures, black cats were viewed as symbols of bad luck, particularly if they crossed one’s path. They are believed to have the power to summon evil spirits or bring about misfortune.

Despite changing attitudes and increased awareness, some people still hold superstitious beliefs about black cats.

Recently, a Facebook user identified as Iris Ignalague expressed her grief after her cat, named Red, was killed by a customer at a local Pisonet shop in Bacolod City. The incident has stirred a lot of emotions among the community.

According to the Ignalague, Red was simply resting near a computer’s CPU and was far from where the man was playing. Despite being in a distant spot, the cat became the target of the man’s frustration after a loss in the game ‘Scatter’.

Surveillance footage from the shop showed the man gently petting Red before grabbing him and taking him outside, where the cat was killed.

The cat’s owner described Red as a beloved companion, close to a family member. The owner is now urging others to be cautious and protect their pets, especially black cats, which are sometimes unfairly associated with bad luck.

Ignalague has emphasized that pets should not be blamed for human frustrations, and the community’s response shows the importance of treating all living beings with respect and compassion.
