Mayor Alice Guo Denies Allegations Against Her
ALICE GUO – The suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor issued an official statement on the accusations against her and gave a message for senators.
Currently, there is a Senate arrest order against suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. However, the upper chamber’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms which is tasked to serve the arrest warrant against the suspended Mayor has yet to locate her.
Mayor Guo is facing allegations of her alleged involvement in the Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town. There are also questions about her nationality and her identity.
The fingerprints of Guo matched with the fingerprints of Chinese national Guo Hua Ping according to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). The Mayor decided to skip the June 26 and the July 10 hearing set by the Senate.
The lawyer of Mayor Alice Guo said that she’s “traumatized” from the treatment to her in the previous Senate hearings. Attorney Stephen David also said that Guo is physically and emotionally drained from the many allegations against her.
Following her absence in the two recent Senate hearings, an arrest order was released against the suspended Mayor. She was cited for contempt by the committee that handles the issue.
Senate President Chiz Escudero signed the arrest order against Mayor Guo. The OSAA was tasked to serve the arrest order within 24 hours but the authorities found negative presence in all the registered addresses of Mayor Guo as well as her farm and garments factories.
Recently, Mayor Alice Guo released a statement on the allegations against her. She also has a message for the senators specifically Senator Sherwin Gatchalian and Sen. Risa Hontiveros.
Guo stressed that she is choosing her health and peace of mind now so she can properly address the legal issues against her “in a fare trial and at a proper forum”. She admitted that she went through severe exhaustion and trauma from her experiences in the previous Senate hearings.
The suspended Mayor also asks the senators if she is the Philippines’ biggest problem. She denied the allegations against her and advise the senators to focus on critical issues like poverty, national security, unemployment, and food shortage.
