Netizen Criticizes BINI Members for Wearing Face Masks at Airport to Conceal Themselves
BINI – Several members of the popular Filipino girl group received criticism online for wearing face masks at the airport.
Recently, Tio Moreno, a Facebook user, criticized the girl group BINI for wearing face masks upon arriving at an airport. The post goes viral and garnered various reactions from the online community.
Moreno expresses his disapproval, suggesting that the group was trying to hide their identities from the public.
In his post, Moreno drew a comparison between BINI members and popular singer Sarah Geronimo. He praised Geronimo for her openness and humility in public spaces despite being in the entertainment industry for over two decades.
The netizen stated that Sarah Geronimo can dance, sing, act, and model but continues to meet the expectations of her supporters and fans with her humility.
Tio also reiterated that Sarah never acts like a ‘Disney princess,’ whether at the airport or as a guest at events. He is hoping that the girl group will follow her example.
Unfortunately, Moreno’s post did not sit well with BINI’s fans, known as Blooms, who defended the group’s right to privacy. They argued that BINI members should be allowed to protect their privacy, especially in public places like airports.
However, the netizen asserted that public figures have a narrower right to privacy compared to ordinary citizens and cited several court decisions to back up his claim. He explained that if BINI members to avoid public scrutiny, they should advise them to resign from their positions
Moreno clarified that he is a fan of BINI and that his criticism was aimed at their excessive attempts to conceal themselves, not at the group itself.
