PAGASA Says Habagat and LPA to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that habagat and a low-pressure area will bring rain showers over parts of the country.
On Monday (July 15, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon and a low-pressure area will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that habagat continues to affect the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and will bring clouds and rain showers over several areas.
The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Western Visayas, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro.
It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of MIMAROPA, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Bataan.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions; the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
A low-pressure area being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has intensified into a tropical depression. It was spotted some 1,100 kilometers west of Central Luzon.
The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds at 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph while moving west-northwest at 25 kph.
“Hindi ito inaasahang makakaapekto sa ating bansa at malapit na ito sa bansang Vietnam,” said Badrina.
The weather agency also spotted a cloud cluster east of Mindanao, which may develop into an LPA in the next hours and may become a typhoon within the week.
“Posibleng ito ay maging LPA sa mga susunod na oras at araw, at posibleng maging bagyo within the week,” Badrina added.
