JULIA MONTES – The ABS-CBN actress leads the upcoming “Saving Grace” series, and here’s why she accepted this.
After years of missing Julia Montes on TV, she is finally making a comeback through “Saving Grace”. This is the title of the PH adaptation of Japan’s “Mother”, the Asia’s Most Exported Scripted Format.
This already had adaptations in countries such as Turkey, South Korea, Ukraine, Thailand, China, France, Spain, Mongolia, and Saudi Arabia.
“Saving Grace” marks the comeback as well of Montes who was last seen in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” with her real-life boyfriend Coco Martin. This is also the first collaboration of ABS-CBN Studios with Nippon TV. The original was aired in 2010 and the Kapamilya star is the 11th “Mother” of this popular Japanese series.
Speaking about this, there’s accordingly a big reason why she accepted this project. In an interview, she shared that this project is special for her as this was the last project that she and the late Deo Endrinal talked about before he passed away.
Sir Deo, for her, was her saver in many ways may it be her career or personal life. He was also among those who believed in her ever since. He was always there for her and she was reminded by him of what she is capable of.
When she received the “Go” sign for the PH adaptation of the said Japanese series, she felt scared and nervous but is always relieved every time she would remember the last conversation she had with Sir Deo about this.
“Pero nung nakausap ko nga si Sir Deo, sabi niya, ‘Gawin mo ito, it’s for you’. Na-kampante na ‘ko kasi siya ‘yung… nandiyan naman siya lagi,” she said.
Undeniably, the actress is among the big stars of her generation but there’s also no denying that her close friend Kathryn Bernardo is bigger than her when it comes to showbiz status. However, despite this, there’s no competition between Julia and Kathryn. Also, all has always been well between them and Montes even expressed her hope for them to have a project together again.
For her, Bernardo is her love team by heart and she’s always among those who are happy for the awards and recognitions she received and Bernardo is also supportive of her.
