Actress Teresa Loyzaga recalls pain as admitted that she sent her son Diego Loyzaga to a rehabilitation center in 2018.
A mother would want nothing but give the best things for her child but it takes a stronger one to go through the rough road just to achieve this. In an interview with boy Abunda in his Kapuso show, actress Teresa Loyzaga admitted to doing this to her son Diego Loyzaga.
In the interview, the actress admitted that it was her who sent her son to a rehabilitation center to iron out illegal substance-related ill manners of her son. It was painful and she recalled how mad her son was because of this.
Above everything, she also blames herself to what has become of her son that time.
She tried to be there and she wanted to be there for her son but someone had to move for them to survive. Teresa expressed, “Somebody had to work. Somebody had to put food in the table. Somebody had to put a roof over their heads. Somebody had to put them to school.”
Speaking about sending him to rehab in 2018 in the interview was with his permission. Recalling what happened, it was her who put him in the rehab. A part of her died in doing this but she wanted him to live, so she did what she did.
“He wasn’t himself then. We have to understand na yung mga mahal natin sa buhay, kapag nalulong sa droga, kapag kinausap mo sila, binabastos ka nila. Hindi sila yon. Yun yong gamot. Nung nawala lahat yon, bumalik yung anak ko. Then, naintindihan niya,” she said.
They haven’t seen each other during that time she still goes to him without him knowing. She believes it was his punishment to learn the value of home and family. Apart from that decision, what also helped big was her faith and the fervent prayers she sincerely whispered.
It was hard but look at where it took them. They are in a better situation, especially Diego, whose life has become better when his daughter came. For Teresa, there’s “a reason to be thankful and rejoice”. Her son has moved past his vices already and is now a responsible father.
