Here’s the statement of the Miss Universe Philippines Organization regarding the issue.
Following the public post of Jef Albea, Miss Universe Philippines Organization released a statement denying the accusation.
Local designer and sculptor Jef Albea publicly called out the Miss Universe Philippines Organization and the post immediately went viral. According to his viral post, the organization did not pay him for crafting the trophies in their recent pageant.
The visual artist was disappointed and frustrated as the MUPH organization failed to pay the trophies. Albea was not holding back in his statement saying his “effort, dedication, and passion” have “ended up ignored and disregarded” as they “refused to pay”.
He added, “I fiercely advocate for my fellow artists with unwavering passion; not all artists can take and afford this mistreatment. Please, do not let our work be taken for granted”. In his post, he stressed that he will no longer accept money from the organization but calls for respect for him and his fellow artists who pour their heart and soul in creating their pieces.
In a statement, the MUPH addressed the accusation and stressed denial to the claims of Albea. Accordingly, the organization “vehemently denies the unfounded allegations made”.
They have already communicated with his staff. The statement added that they follow a “standard procedure of billing for suppliers to sponsors” for proper documentation and would not hesitate to “pursue legal action to address and resolve this unfounded accusation”.
The MUPH also urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and to have faith as the truth will always come out.
