Gawad Urian Gives Ronnie Lazaro Best Supporting Actor Award, Actress Kathryn Bernardo Absent at Awards Night
RONNIE LAZARO – The cast of “The Gospel of the Beast” won his 2nd Gawad Urian award. Actress Kathryn Bernardo was absent at the event.
Undeniably, in the Philippine entertainment industry, there are actors and actresses with excellent skills although they are not as popular as some actors and actresses who are always given the main role. These brilliant actors and actresses contribute a lot in the making of excellent outputs as supporting casts.
One of the gems in the Philippine showbiz industry is Ronnie Lazaro, an actor who was born in Sagay City, Negros Occidental. He is most popular for his role in the 2008 hit film Yanggaw. His portrayal of his character in the film got him the Gawad Urian Best Actor award in 2008.
Recently, Ronnie brought home his second Gawad Urian Award trophy. He won the Best Supporting Actor award during the 47th Gawad Urian for his portrayal of his role in The Gospel of the Beast. Like in Yanggaw, he also played the character of an Ilonggo.
Based on an article on Pep, in his acceptance speech, Ronnie Lazaro expressed that they are not playing their roles to receive an award but it really makes them feel great once their work is recognized. He also has a message for the other nominees:
“Napakasarap nito! Maraming salamat! Sa aming mga katunggali… sorry, ako na muna ngayon,” he said.
His message sparked laughter from the audience. The actor went on to thank Gawad Urian, the director of the film, Sheron Dayoc, and the people of Iloilo. He also expressed his gratitude to his manager, June Rufino, and his family.
Kathryn Bernardo, the FAMAS 2024 Best Actress, was also nominated for the Best Actress category in the 47th Gawad Urian event. However, based on the article, the actress was noticeable not around at the event. Charlie Dizon won Best Actress for the film Third World Romance.
