Woman Who Falsely Accused Motorcycle Taxi Rider of Robbery Retracts Her Claim
A woman retracted her claim of being robbed and harassed by a motorcycle taxi rider, admitting that the incident was fabricated.
The woman, who introduced herself as a BPO employee, reported to the Pasay Police that she had been harassed and robbed by a motorcycle taxi rider. She claimed that the rider took her bag, which contained money and IDs, and left her in a dark area in Pasay City.
Pasay City Police Chief, Police Colonel Samuel Pabonita launched an investigation into her claims. They reviewed the areas where the woman said the incident occurred but found no evidence to support her story.
“Binalikan natin yung lugar na pinangyarihan, ayon sa kanyang sinasabi. So tiningnan namin kung meron ngang captured sa CCTV. Wala talaga tayong naano doon during the backtracking,” said Pabonita.
Further investigation revealed inconsistencies. The booking records from the motorcycle taxi company showed that the rider had trips scheduled shortly after the alleged incident, proving that the woman was not dropped off in Pasay as she claimed.

During an interview with Senator Raffy Tulfo, the woman admitted that she made up the allegations against the rider because she was unhappy with some of the things he said.
Initially, she had accused the rider of stealing her bag, which she said contained P4,000, IDs, and a debit card. However, with her confession, the police are now considering charging her with perjury for providing false testimony in her sworn statement.
“Pwede namin kasuhan ng babae nito na perjury kasi she’s giving a false statement… Napatunayan natin ang pangyari hindi sa Pasay Area. Puwede pumunta yung ating motor taxi driver doon, siguro it’s either sa area ng Quezon City or dito sa area na ng Taguig,” Pabonita explained.
According to Police Colonel Jay Guillermo, Chief of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group Cyber Response Unit, the woman could also face cyber libel charges for posting false accusations against the rider on social media.
“Ang importante di siya mawala sa online or may screengrab niya o mairecord niya na meron ganito, pwede gamitin yun. Kailangan may ebidensya ka, umaabot yan ng 6 years to 12 years pagka napatunayan ‘yan ng korte,” Guillermo stated.
The motorcycle taxi company has reinstated the rider and pledged to help him recover lost earnings from his suspension.
