Liza Soberano Statement Elicits Reaction From Ogie Diaz

Ogie Diaz reacted to this statement made by Liza Soberano

Actress Liza Soberano made a striking statement about not having the privilege to decide for herself in the past but her former manager Ogie Diaz contradicted this.

Ogie handled Liza’s career for more than a decade with the help of Star Magic, the talent management company of ABS-CBN. When the actress decided not to renew her contract with her former manager, issues surfaced.

In her past statements, Liza mentioned not having the right to choose what she wanted for her career. She also disagreed with the loveteam culture in the Philippines. The actress received polarizing comments on her brave statements.

Her fans lauded her for her courage to speak her mind and her will to stand up for herself. However, she was also criticized because of this and was accused of being ungrateful.

Liza Soberano was recently featured by The Laterals Magazine. In one of the recent Instagram posts shared by the magazine, the actress’s statement about her career was featured.

“When I made the decision, I was already 12 years into my acting career. I felt like an adult but nobody treated me like one. Nobody treated me like I had a right to my own opinion. Nobody would consult me on the things that I would do before deciding on my behalf,” Liza said.

In a recent episode of Showbiz Update, the YouTube talk show of Ogie Diaz, they featured this statement made by his former “alaga.” Ogie’s co-host Mama Loi asked him what he could say about this since he had been part of that 12 years in Liza’s career.

The talent manager-vlogger said that this is Liza’s side and he is not invalidating what she said. “Kung yun ang nararamdaman niya, ibigay natin sa kaniya yun,” he said. However, he also explained his side.

Ogie said that as far as he knew, this was not what happened. He explained that all the projects are presented to Liza and she will be the one who would say if she will do a certain project or not.

The talent manager-vlogger also cited that former Star Magic head Johnny Manahan or Mr. M said that you should not do any project that does not make you feel happy. “So, ang pinapagawa namn sa kaniya ay ang gusto niya,” he stressed.

Ogie added that the projects that they made Liza do were fitted for her and those that did not fit were not presented to her anymore. He also said that there were times when Liza would say something about what she wanted but they were considering the direction of her career.

The talent manager-vlogger pointed out that they were establishing Liza’s status in the industry. “Kaya ka nga namin pinamamahal eh, ginagawa ka naming expensive,” Ogie said.
