FAMAS Director Vince Tañada Clarifies Scope of Work
FAMAS Director Vince Tañada broke his silence on the controversy involving veteran actress Eva Darren and the film award-giving body.
The controversial issue surrounding the 72nd FAMAS Awards held last Sunday gathered countless reactions. Many people were disappointed by the hurtful scenario that involved veteran actress Eva Darren.
The FAMAS-Eva Darren issue went viral after the son of the veteran actress narrated in a post what happened. Although she would usually skip social events according to her son, the veteran actress made an exception with FAMAS and decided to attend to the event as she was invited to be a presenter.
Eva Darren has been awarded as a Best Supporting Actress by FAMAS decades ago. Her son revealed that she really prepared for the event — bought dress and a pair of heels, got a make up and hair package, and even brought with her three (3) of her grandchildren. She also paid Php 5,000 per plate for the dinner the at the event.
However, the Gabi ng Parangal ended without Eva Darren going onstage to be a presenter. The veteran actress was never called. FAMAS apologized and claimed that they were unable to locate her at the event so they instantly looked for someone to replace her.
FAMAS awardee Divina Valencia who was seated at the same table with Eva at the event is disappointed by what happened. She stressed that their table was located almost in front of the stage.
FAMAS social media manager Johnrey Rivas also made a revelation. According to him, there was no instance of looking for Eva Darren at the event as the veteran actress was no longer part of the program two (2) days before the event. He stressed that the liaison between the veteran actress and the production team was at fault as he did not confirm her attendance to the event.
Recently, FAMAS director Vince Tañada, a lawyer, broke his silence on the Eva Darren controversy. Based on a report on Pep, the Director stressed that it was not a part of the tasks for them to hire a Talent Coordinator (TC) and it were the FAMAS President and PRO who were giving them the list of the guest artists and presenters.
“Hindi po saklaw ng trabaho namin ang kumuha ng presenters. Kaya po wala kaming TC. Yan po ay agreement na with FAMAS,” Tañada said.
Based on the article, the FAMAS Director explained that their job was to make a script based on the information from the President and the PRO and to direct the program at the event.
“Kaya po simula pa lamang noong Biyernes nang tanggalin si Eva Darren sa list kasama ng iba pa, ang alam namin ay wala siya sa programa,” the lawyer said.
Atty. Vince Tañada said that it would be easy for them in case they were told to state again the name of the veteran actress in the program. However, they were not told by the PRO about it.
