Pres. Marcos Expresses Support to New Senate President Chiz Escudero

Philippine President Bongbong Marcos released a statement on Senator Chiz Escudero as the new Senate President.

The Filipino populace was surprised by the recent move of Senator Migz Zubiri when he stepped down from the Senate Presidency. He was in the position for two (2) years and stressed the he had given as all as the head of the Senate during his stint.

“I have never dictated my position to any of you, and I always supported your independence—which is probably why I face my demise today. I failed to follow instructions from the powers that be,” Zubiri said when he spoked to tender his resignation as the Senate President.

According to Sen. Zubiri, he is leaving the Senate Presidency with his head held high knowing that he did what is right for the legislative body and the nation as a whole. However, he admitted that he is hurt by some friends who assured him their support turned their back from him in a snap.

“I fought the good fight. If I have ruffled some feathers in doing so, if I have upset the powers that be, then so be it,” the resigned Senate President said.

The resignation of Sen. Zubiri came after the “PDEA Leaks” inquiry that dragged the name of Pres. Bongbong Marcos into the issue. According to the former Senate President, he will continue to serve as an independent member of the Senate.

Senator Bato Dela Rosa broke down in tears after Sen. Migz Zubiri resigned from his post. He was replaced by Sen. Chiz Escudero. who was the sole nominee for the post.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos, through a social media post, extended his support to new Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero. The Chief Executive acknowledged the record of the new Senate President as a lawmaker.

Pres. Marcos also described the tenure of Sen. Zubiri as “commendable”. In his post, the Chief Executive expressed his confidence that under Sen. Escudero, the legislative chamber “will continue to prioritize transformative laws” for the shared vision of “Bagong Pilipinas”.
