Pia Wurtzbach Says Friend Christi McGarry Ready for Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Crown
MISS UNIVERSE PHILIPPINES 2024 – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach said her friend Christi McGarry is ready for the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 crown.
When the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) announced last year that it was removing the maximum age restriction, following the acceptance of married women and mothers into the contest, 2015 winner Pia Wurtzbach named Christi McGarry as one of the women she hoped would compete again.
Now, her 2015 Binibining Pilipinas batchmate has answered the call and is seen as a top contender for the 2024 Miss Universe Philippines title. The TV host, model, and DJ, now 34 years old, is representing Taguig City in MUPH 2024.
Pia Wurtzbach expressed her support for her friend Christi McGarry just days before the local pageant organization crown its new queen. Pia praised her in an Instagram post on Wednesday, May 15, reminiscing about the start of their friendship.
“McGarry and I go [way] way back in 2015 when we competed together [nine] years ago and despite being ‘competitors’ during the pageant, we grew to be really good friends through the years,” Pia wrote.
“When I was going for Miss Universe, not even for a single moment did I feel she didn’t want me to win or that she wished for me to fail. Christi was always proud and supportive of me,” she underscored.
Pia Wurtzbach highlighted that with the pageant’s removal of the age limit, the 34-year-old McGarry now has another opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a Miss Universe titleholder.
“With unwavering support, she’s back in the game. She’s built a career as a model, host, DJ, entrepreneur, environmental advocate…this girl isn’t afraid of the grind,” Pia stated, further describing Christi as a “well rounded woman, respectable, kind, professional [and] and a stunner.”
“I believe in her as much as she believed in me,” she added. “I’m so proud of her growth and courage. If Miss Universe were tomorrow, she’d be ready.”
Concluding her post, Pia declared, “Our next Miss Universe might just be her.”
Christi McGarry was moved by Pia Wurtzbach’s support, thanking the latter for always believing in her.
