Dina Bonnevie On Her Biggest Pain As A Mother

In an interview, Dina Bonnevie shares this pain she used to endure.

Veteran actress Dina Bonnevie shared in an interview the biggest pain she had as the mother of Danica Sotto and Oyo Sotto.

A mother’s responsibilities to her children are just like her love for them – never ending. The kids may come and go and build their own family but the responsibilities of being a parent to their children remain.

For Dina Bonnevie, off-the-record answers is not her cup of tea but as a human, she also had her fair share of vulnerable moment, especially when she became a mother. To recall, the veteran actress was married to Vic Sotto.

Dina and Vic got married in 1982. They have two kids namely Danica born in 1983 and Oyo in 1984. However, the marriage did not last long. The couple broke up in 1986 and their marriage was annulled in 1992.

She recalled grieving over the failed marriage with Sotto but no pain could amount to the pain she experience when she became a mother. After their separation, their two kids were left in her custody and during a sit-down interview with Karen Davila on her YouTube channel, she talked about the biggest pain she experienced of her journey as a mother of two kids following the separation.

Bonnevie shared the moment she had to explain to a young Danica why they have to live separately from their father. At the time of the break up, Danica was just six years old.

“’Sayang mommy we’re not complete, we’re only three.’ Sabi ko you don’t need to four to have a complete family. We are still a family,” she shared and every time her daughter would say that, her heart breaks.

She added with teary eyes based on the video, “If you’re hearing that from your daughter. Sobrang sakit, kung pwede ko lang ibahin.”

Extra-marital affairs are unfortunately common and being a celebrity does not give you immunity from this but time heals all wounds. Bonnevie and Vic are on good terms now and they are with their separate families.

In a previous article, Dina shared the important thing Vic taught her and it’s a tip about doing comedy which is related to their work as artists. According to her, her ex-husband taught her that in comedy, the most important thing is to not be funny but to make the people laugh and just be the character. As a veteran comedian himself, his words surely made an impact on her.
