Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao del Norte April 15, 2024

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.0 magnitude quake in Surigao del Norte today, April 17, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Dinagat Islands earlier today, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Surigao del Norte earlier today has a magnitude of 5.0.

Earthquake Today

The earthquake today that struck Surigao del Norte, Wednesday, April 17, 2024, was tectonic in origin.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Norte was located at 09.81°North, 126.45°East – 033 km North 84° East of General Luna. It had a depth of focus of 020 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, instrumental II was recorded in Surigao City while the following intensities were felt in these areas:
