Traffic Enforcers Need Better Training to Manage Traffic Flow, President BBM Says
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is pushing for improved training for traffic enforcers in Metro Manila to effectively manage traffic flow.
Traffic congestion is a major problem in the Philippines, especially in highly urbanized areas like Metro Manila. The country’s roads and transportation infrastructure often struggle to cope with the growing number of vehicles on the road, leading to gridlock, long commutes, and frustration among commuters.
Strengthening traffic management systems, implementing strict enforcement of traffic laws, and using technology for traffic monitoring and control can help improve road safety and reduce congestion.
On Wednesday (April 10, 2024), during his attendance at a traffic summit in San Juan City, President Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos Jr. emphasized that managing traffic is not simple, especially during peak hours when there are many vehicles on the road.
Therefore, traffic enforcers need to be skilled and strategic in their approach.
The President stressed the importance of traffic enforcers understanding the needs of the roads they oversee. This underscores the necessity for them to undergo proper training.
“Kailangan namomonitor mabuti at mai-direct natin yung traffic. Kayat kailangan talagang bigyan natin ng magandang training ang mga traffic enforcer para maunawaan nilang mabuti kung ano yung pangangailangan Doon sa kanilang– kung saan sila nilagay,” said Marcos.
President Marcos Jr. pointed out the inconsistency in assigning traffic enforcers to a particular area and emphasizes instances where they may not be familiar with traffic patterns, leading to minor issues.
President BBM also observed instances where manual traffic control by some traffic enforcers worsens traffic congestion.
Improving the training of traffic enforcers is seen as a proactive step towards enhancing traffic management in Metro Manila.
