Alleged Aswang Attack Killed Several Poultry in Pontevedra

On Thursday (April 11, 2024), the residents of Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Antipolo, in Pontevedra town were in distress as they believed an aswang attacked and killed several poultry on a farm.
The owner discovered the remains of six guinea fowls and two turkeys scattered on the ground with signs of severe injuries, particularly in their stomachs and bodies. Some locals expressed their belief that an aswang was responsible for the attack.
According to Manny, the owner of the poultry farm, he went outside around 3 in the morning to check on his guinea fowls because they were making a lot of noise, but he didn’t notice anything unusual apart from the agitated birds. Eventually, he went back to sleep.
However, when he woke up in the morning, he was shocked to find his poultry dead, and his body weakened due to the unexpected incident. He hadn’t anticipated such an event, especially since his property is surrounded by high walls and has a gate, making it difficult for other animals like dogs to enter.
The alleged aswang attack has left the community on edge, with residents worried about the safety of their poultry and themselves. Many are calling for measures to protect against such occurrences in the future, while others are seeking traditional rituals to ward off evil spirits.
Local authorities have been notified about the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the poultry deaths.
