EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Surigao del Sur today, March 15, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.8 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Surigao del Sur today with a magnitude of 4.2.

The earthquake today that struck Surigao del Sur, Friday, March 15, 2024, was tectonic in origin.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Sur was located at 08.99°North, 127.17°East – 095 km North 85° East of Cagwait. It had a depth of focus of 018 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
