Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao del Sur, April 3, 2024
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.1 magnitude quake in Surigao del Sur today, April 3, 2024. Here are the details.
Following the 4.2 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur a few weeks ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in the same province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Surigao del Sur today with a magnitude of 5.1.

The earthquake today that struck Surigao del Sur, Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 12:51 p.m. was tectonic in origin. According to the quake-recording bureau, it is the aftershock of the magnitude 7.4 quake that hit the province offshore last December 2, 2023.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Sur was located at 08.56°North, 126.89°East – 065 km North 71° East of Hinatuan. It had a depth of focus of 001 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. Intensity IV was felt in Bislig City. Instrumental Intensity II was also recorded in the same city.
