Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Occidental Mindoro, April 2, 2024

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Occidental Mindoro today, April 2, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.2 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur a few weeks ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Occidental Mindoro today with a magnitude of 4.2.

The earthquake today that struck Occidental Mindoro, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, was tectonic in origin.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Occidental Mindoro was located at 13.11°North, 120.47°East – 019 km South 45° West of Mamburao. It had a depth of focus of 020 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake neither aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, the following instrumental intensities were recorded in these areas:

    • Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro
    • Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
  • Intensity II
    • City of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro
  • Intensity III
    • Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro
