PAGASA Says Easterlies and Amihan to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

On Wednesday (March 20, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Northern and Central Luzon while the easterlies will be affecting the rest of the country.

The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Sorsogon, and Masbate.

“Asahan ang light to moderate rains sa Cagayan Valley, as well as Kalinga, and Apayao dulot ng northeast monsoon, habang ang hilagang bahagi ng Quezon at lalawigan ng Aurora asahan ang mahinang pagulan dulot din ng amihan,” said Estareja.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Aurora, and Northern Quezon. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON.

“Sa natitirang bahagi ng Cordillera Region at Ilocos region bahagyang maulap hanggang kung minsan maulap sa umaga at tanghali, but then kumukulimlim po pagsapit ng hapon at gabi kasama ang ulan dulot ng northeast monsoon,” he explained.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the country. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

PAGASA also raised a warning over the coasts of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Isabela.
