EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude quake in Eastern Samar today, March 18, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.2 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Eastern Samar today with a magnitude of 4.5.

The earthquake today that struck Eastern Samar, Monday, March 18, 2024, was tectonic in origin.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Eastern Samar was located at 12.13°North, 125.87°East – 040 km South 82° East of San Policarpo. It had a depth of focus of 022 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
