Pastor Apollo Quiboloy May Now Be Arrested – Rep. Johnny Pimentel

Arrest Warrant Issued Against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy

PASTOR APOLLO QUIBOLOY – Assistant Minority Leader and Surigao del Sur Representative Johnny Pimentel said the arrest order against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy took effect on Friday, March 15.

Surigao del Sur’s Representative for the 2nd District, Johnny Pimentel, implies that Apollo Quiboloy, the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), may now be arrested. Pimentel indicates that an arrest order against Quiboloy came into effect on Friday, March 15, due to his absence during a House of Representatives panel hearing, despite his lawyer’s request for a brief delay.

Pimentel asserts that Quiboloy’s lawyer, Ferdinand Topacio, did not provide any response to the House Committee on Legislative Franchises regarding his client’s attendance at the hearing.

Based on a report from Inquirer, Pastor Quiboloy was cited for contempt by the committee after he declined to participate in hearings concerning alleged franchise violations of Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), which is purportedly associated with him. Topacio sought a postponement for his client until Friday, expressing his intention to persuade Quiboloy to attend.

Pimentel, the vice chairperson of the House Committee on Legislative Franchises, expressed no surprise at the lack of response from Topacio, characterizing it as a delaying tactic. He had previously requested a subpoena against Quiboloy on February 7, following complaints from Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas about the KJC leader’s repeated absence from hearings.

Brosas aimed to inquire about SMNI’s ownership, suspecting Quiboloy’s involvement based on alleged preferential treatment from SMNI hosts. However, SMNI’s lawyer, Mark Tolentino, defended the hosts’ right to express gratitude to Quiboloy as part of their freedom of speech.

According to the report, Pimentel, along with Parañaque 2nd District Rep. Gus Tambunting, moved to hold Quiboloy in contempt for his persistent non-appearance. Tambunting, chairperson of the House Committee on Legislative Franchises, emphasized the committee’s fairness and leniency towards Quiboloy, highlighting that the contempt order came after three months of invitations.

Deputy Speaker David Suarez stressed the importance of penalizing Quiboloy to prevent setting a precedent for future non-compliance with summons by other resource persons.

The House initially investigated SMNI after allegations were made by Laban Kasama ang Bayan host Jeffrey Celiz regarding Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez’s purported extravagant spending. However, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco clarified the inaccuracies in Celiz’s claims, revealing the actual travel costs incurred.

Subsequently, the hearings brought to light potential violations of SMNI’s franchise, particularly regarding providing balanced programming, informing Congress about ownership changes, and offering a portion of its stock to the public.

  4. The Adopted Son “kuno” of God is arrogant and mocking the law. Even Jesus Christ, the true Son of God, allow Himself to be maligned and crucified.

Why this Adopted Son, refused even to submit himself for the investigation? Guilty of something or not, he should be Adopted Son (Man) of God enough to face all the accusations.
