On Monday (March 11, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the Northeast Monsoon would bring cloudy skies and rain over Northern and Central Luzon while the easterlies would affect the rest of the country.

Amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rain over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region.

The northeast monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

“Itong hanging amihan ay inaasahan natin na magpapatuloy pa rin ngayong linggo at posible next week or third week of March normally natatapos ‘yung panahon ng amihan,” Badrina said.

Badrina also said that the northeast monsoon’s influence on the country’s climate could possibly end next week. It may indicate the gradual transition to the dry season.

The easterlies or localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

No weather disturbances are expected to form or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility for the rest of the week.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

PAGASA did not raise a gale warning on any country’s seaboard.
