Freelance DJ Files Charges vs 2 Bank Officers Who Molested Her
Two bank officers were arrested for allegedly abusing a grade 12 student working as a freelance DJ in Cebu.
The suspects were identified as Prestine Jay Tampus, a 28-year-old Bank Supervisor from Lapu-Lapu City, and Chandie Deza Canadalla, a 24-year-old Bank Account Officer from Dunggoan, Bolinawan, Carcar City.
The two were arrested on suspicion of molesting a 17-year-old Grade 12 student who works as a Freelance Disc Jockey at a local FM station in Carcar City, Cebu.
According to reports from the Carcar City Police Station, the arrests came after the victim reported that she had been molested by the two suspects at 2 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, inside the premises of Katipunan Bank.
As of this writing, the two suspects are detained in the custodial facility of the Carcar City Police Station and will face charges for violating Republic Act 8353 or the Rape Law about Republic Act 7610.
However, Chandie Deza Canadalla denies the allegations of rape. He claims that the incident did not happen as reported. According to the suspect, the victim voluntarily accompanied them on the said date.
Canadalla narrated that the girl initially asked him to accompany her to the bathroom, where they engaged in conversation. This conversation led to kissing and touching, he alleged.
When Arong, saw them, they decided to move inside a storage area. Allegedly, they stopped their actions when the girl mentioned she was menstruating.
Moreover, Canadalla added that the girl claimed to be 22 years old and even exchanged phone numbers with them. Both suspects expressed shock when police arrested them the following day.
Canadalla suspects that the girl made excuses when her boyfriend discovered her actions. Canadalla has a live-in partner and three children, while Arong also has a live-in partner and two children.
