Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, February 24, 2024
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, February 24, 2024. Here are the details.
Following the 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur several days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Davao Occidental today with a magnitude of 4.5.
The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Saturday, February 24, 2024, was tectonic in origin.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 04.35°North, 128.82°East – 392 km South 64° East of Jose Abad Santos. It had a depth of focus of 051 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected from the said quake but there may be no aftershock. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
