PAGASA Says Easterlies to Bring Scattered Rains Over Eastern Part of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over the eastern part of the country.

On Wednesday (February 21, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions

PAGASA specialist Rhea Torres reported that easterlies will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over the eastern section of the country. Easterlies are warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean.

It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands.

The weather system is expected to bring hot and humid conditions over some parts of Visayas and Mindanao except for chances of rain.

“The northeastern portion of Mindanao as well as the southern portion of Visayas have a high chance of experiencing continuous rainfall due to the easterlies,” Torres said.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The remaining parts of the country will have fair weather conditions despite some chances of rain.

“We still have fair weather today except for chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in some parts of the Luzon area,” she added.

The weather agency advised the residents to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon as well as the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.

No gale warning was raised in any part of the country. Waves as high as 2.8 meters are possible over extreme Northern Luzon, seafarers are advised to observe precautionary measures.
