Elderly Man Enjoys Doing Laundry After Taking Illegal Drugs
An elderly man was arrested for possession of illegal drugs, the latter claimed that he enjoys doing laundry after taking drugs.
Over the previous decades, illegal drugs have been one of the major problems not only in the Philippines but also in various reactions across the world. It poses serious threats to public health, safety, and social stability.
The authorities tried to address the root causes of drug abuse is important for long-term solutions. Poverty, unemployment, lack of access to education and healthcare, and social inequality are among the factors that contribute to drug abuse and addiction.
On Sunday, February 18, 2024, the suspect, identified as Socrates Ambos admitted to enjoying doing laundry after using illegal drugs and was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Proper, Barangay Kinasang-an, Cebu City.
Authorities from the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Inayawan Police Station conducted the operation and confiscated 5.24 grams of shabu valued at P36,632 from Ambos. During the operation, Ambos’ 20-year-old neighbor, Emedio Sandoval, who works as an e-bike driver, was also arrested after attempting to buy drugs from Ambos.
The 62-year-old senior, who goes by the nickname Socring, used to work for the Cebu City Department of Public Services. The suspect said that he started selling illegal substances because he was unemployed and saw friends doing the same to earn money.

He admitted to using a portion of his drug supply. “Basta makasuyop ko, kondisyon kayo. Ako tripping kun makasuyop manglaba ko,” Ambos shared.
