PAGASA Says Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Thursday (February 8, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA specialist Benison Estareja reported that easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over the eastern section of the country. Easterlies are warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean.

The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Davao Region, Caraga, and Southern Leyte.

“Iyong mga pag-ulan natin hindi na katulad nitong mga nagdaaang araw na malalakas, light to moderate rains po tayo and then may mga thunderstorms pagsapit ng hapon kaya’t andiyan pa rin po ang mga pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa,” Estareja said.

The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. Soccsksargen, Northern Mindanao, the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao, and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that these areas are still struggling with the effects of a trough of the low-pressure area, which dissipated this month.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. Central Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon as well as the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over any coastal area in the country.
