EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Surigao del Sur today, February 7, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.9 magnitude earthquake in Mountain Province yesterday, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Surigao del Sur today and it has a magnitude of 4.2.

The earthquake today that struck Surigao del Sur, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, was tectonic in origin.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Sur was located at 08.05°North, 127.09°East – 075 km North 89° East of Lingig. It had a depth of focus of 001 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected from the said quake but there may be no aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, Intensity I was felt in the city of Bislig, Surigao del Sur. No instrumental intensity was recorded by the bureau.
