Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Mountain Province, February 6, 2024
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.9 magnitude quake in Mountain Province today, February 6, 2024. Here are the details.
Following the 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur several days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Mountain Province today and it has a magnitude of 4.9.
The earthquake today that struck Mountain Province, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, was tectonic in origin.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 17.03°North, 120.79°East – 005 km North 42° West of Tadian. It had a depth of focus of 010 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected from the said quake but there may be no aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, Intensity III was felt in Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur while the following instrumental intensities were recorded:
- Intensity I
- Aringay and San Fernando City, La Union
- Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
