PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that northeast monsoon and LPA’s trough will prevail over most parts of the country.

On Saturday (February 3, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Daniel James E. Villamil reported that the northeast monsoon will bring light rains over Northern and Central Luzon while the trough of a Low Pressure Area will bring scattered rains over Southern Mindanao.

“Patuloy nating minomonitor itong low-pressure area sa labas ng ating Philippine Area of Responsibility at kaning alas 3 ng umaga huling namataan ito sa layong 455 kilometers southwest of Zamboanga City,” Villamil said.

The LPA’s trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

“Maliit pa rin ang tsansa ng nasabing low-pressure area na maging isang ganap na bagyo for the next 24 hours. Inaasahan pa rin natin na magdadala ito ng kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at mga pagkulog at pagkidlat sa ilang areas ng Sothern Mindanao,” he added.

The easterlies will bring similar weather conditions over Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental. The monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon.

The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
