Do You Still Remember Diwata? Here is His Life Now

DIWATA – Do you still remember the viral LGBTQIA member? Here he is now, after being a precinct sensation in 2016.

In 2016, Deo Balbuena, also known as Diwata made headlines after a scuffle left them wounded. He managed to grace the precinct in Pasay City with a beauty queen’s flair despite the injuries sustained.

Balbuena introduce themselves with a line, “Nagmula sa kalangitan, lumagapak sa kalupaan, narito na sa inyong harapan ang nag-iisang Diwata na mukhang kawatan.”

The internet sensation headed to the precinct to report two friends who had allegedly assaulted and injured them using a cutter.

The latter revealed witnessing their two friends, beneath the Pasay Bridge where they live, allegedly using illegal drugs. A confrontation ensued, leading to injuries. He went viral online due to his involvement in crime.

Deo exclaimed, “Mas nababagay kayo sa kulungan kasi mga kriminal kayo. Tingnan mo yung ginawa mo sa akin, ang ganda-ganda ng mukha ko sinira mo”

Eight years later, his situation changed, and he was featured on the January 28, 2024 episode of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. Diwata disclosed that the two friends they had clashed with had been released from prison and reconciled.

Diwata’s life changed for the better. He now owns a 24-hour eatery in Pasay named Diwata Pares Overload Unli Rice. Regarding the business name, Diwata explained, “Nasanay na kasi sila. Yun kasi naging palayaw ko noon pa.”

Balbuena recounted his journey, sharing that when the incident happened in 2016, he had recently arrived in Manila from Samar, hoping for a better life. He worked odd jobs as a construction worker and sold coffee, cigarettes, and candy on the side.

“Hanggang sa may naipon ako. Bumili ako ng kaldero, bumili ako ng kalan, tapos nag-start na kaming mag-pares,” he added.

The eatery offers unlimited rice and soup with a soft drink for P100. He had managed to save up due to their hard work. He now had a decent home, no longer residing under the bridge, and even owned a car.

The viral sensation couldn’t help but tear up as he remembered scavenging for food from garbage but now, the 24/7 eatery stands as a testament to their changed fate.
