Her first Hollywood film Lisa Frankenstein, in which she played the step-sister of the lead actress Kathryn Newton, is set to be released this year.

In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, the actress shared that her journey to reach her Hollywood dream was not a smooth sailing one. “It was really nerve-racking because I’m coming from a 12-year long career in the Philippines, not to toot my own horn, but I’m pretty established already in Manila,” she said.

Liza is one of the most popular actresses of her generation and she has done a lot of projects already under her former home network. Having that star status in the Philippine entertainment industry, she already has privilege but she decided to leave the comfort of her home for her personal and professional growth.

She also mentioned the people who helped her in her journey after making big moves and she received backlash. The actress was criticized for her fierce statements, including how she discussed the loveteam culture in the Philippines.

It kind of stemmed from me just talking more and more about my experiences from the industry in the Philippines and kind of comparing America to the Philippines, I meant Hollywood to Filipino entertainment,” she explained.

Liza also stressed that she has no intention to destroy the reputation of the Philippine entertainment industry. She also shared that being a Filipino-American, navigating in Hollywood was not easy.

I thought initially maybe I don’t belong here, maybe I don’t fit in ‘cause just I felt I’m always awkward amongst people but then I realized I felt like that in the Philippines too,” Liza Soberano said.
