An employee was summoned to the Human Resources Department after his co-worker developed allergies from a stolen lunch.
A Reddit user ‘Away_Explanation6639” shared an incident where a worker found themselves summoned to the Human Resource Department over a lunch mishap. His officemate developed allergies after consuming stolen ‘okoy,’ which was originally intended to be the Reddit user’s lunch.
In the post, the user expressed frustration, explaining that he had started bringing lunch from home due to the high cost of purchasing meals. The user’s mother had prepared shrimp patties with rice, locally known as “okoy,” accompanied by peanut sauce.
However, his meal went missing from the office refrigerator, and later, a colleague reported experiencing severe allergic reactions.
The employee, initially enraged by the theft of their lunch, reported the incident to their manager. However, things took a serious turn when the Human Resources Department summoned them for a meeting, alleging that they were the cause of their colleague’s allergic reaction.
The user denied any wrongdoing, insisting on an investigation and even demanding CCTV footage to prove his innocence.
Further updates revealed additional issues within the office, including theft of personal items and the decision to install CCTV cameras in locker rooms. Despite facing challenges, the user expressed gratitude towards their understanding boss, who allowed their team to work remotely amidst the issue.
The situation escalated further when the HR department tried to separate the theft concern from the alleged case of attempted involuntary manslaughter. The user thought about filing a formal complaint, expressing disappointment at how the situation was handled.
