Dwight Howard Drives Strong Group to Defeat Lebanon Team in DIBC 2024
Strong Group Athletics – Philippines defeated the gutsy Lebanon team in Dubai International Basketball Championship (DIBC) 2024.
The Philippine team is currently three games unbeaten in the Dubai basketball competition, having survived a late scare from Lebanon’s red-hot Homenetment team. Andray Blatche and Dwight Howard show off their NBA pedigree after an exciting shootout versus Lebanon.
Dwight Howard exploded for 32 points and seven rebounds to lead the Philippine team against the gutsy Lebanon. Homenetmen’s hot hands were eventually cooled by the combined efforts of Strong Group’s equally lethal scorers.
Reigning UAAP MVP Kevin Quiambao prove his worth to the world with a team-high 24 points against Al Wahda-Syria, finished with a triple of his own at the 1:20 mark to seal the 99-91 victory. He finished with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting as SGA’s top two scorer of the night, narrowly edging Blatche’s 18 on 6-of-10 from three.
Andre Roberson (13) and McKenzie Moore (12 points). In a losing effort, former Meralco Bolts import Zach Lofton had a monster game with 37 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and a steal. Gerard Hadidian recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist.
With this win, the Strong Group ties with Al Ahli Tripoli (Libya), both with a 3-0 win-loss record and sharing the top spot in Group B. After securing three straight victories against the UAE National Team, 82-66, Al Wahda Syria, 89-67, and Homenetmen, 104-95, the Strong Group will take a two-day break before facing Sports Club Beirut.
