Piolo Pascual is proud to be part of ‘Mallari’ and ‘GomBurza’
A-list actor Piolo Pascual shared his thoughts on doing “milestone films” like the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entries Mallari and GomBurZa.
Piolo has done a lot of films already throughout his acting career. One of the milestones he had in his acting career last year was being part of the theater production Ibarra and he was recognized as best actor by Aliw Awards because of his performance.
Another milestone he had was doing his first horror film, Mallari. This showcased once again his acting caliber. The moviegoers praised his performance and how the movie was presented.
Piolo Pascual also had a role in GomBurZa, the film that featured mainly Enchong Dee, Dante Rivero, and Cedrick Juan.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PUSH, the A-list actor said that he will definitely continue doing quality projects even though he has been showcasing his talent for the past three decades.
“Kasi when you’ve done a lot and achieved so many things, parang you’re okay na. But the thing is, if you settle there, there’s not going to be any more growth. Kung mag-se-settle ka sa magaling na ako, ang dami ko ng nagawa sa buhay ko, may pera na ako, pahinga na ako,’ bakit?” he said.
Wanting to continue to grow and do what he loves, Piolo said that challenging projects keep his blood pumping. That’s why when I take on a totally new character, such as what was the case in Mallari, it was hard. I had sleepless nights. But I took it on because I wanted to challenge myself,” the actor said.
He is proud to be part of historical films like GomBurZa. For him, it is a privilege to be part of this kind of project. “You know this is not your typical rom-com that I’m accustomed to doing. These are milestone films. So ang sarap ng pakiramdam that you get to be chosen to represent a certain character such as Ibarra, such as Mallari, such as Pedro Pelaez in GomBurZa and also this socio-political film na Moro,” Piolo shared.
The actor said that he wants to give voices to these characters and this is an honor for him. He knows that this kind of opportunity only comes once in a while and this is the reason why he does not want to miss the chance.
For Piolo Pascual, his authenticity makes his role-playing remarkable. He said that if the actor is not showing realness and truthfulness, the next thing is “trouble.” The actor said that he does not want to fake how he would portray a certain character.
