PAGASA Says Amihan and Shear Line to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan and the shear line will bring rain over some parts of the country.

On Tuesday (January 9, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and shear line will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported that the shear line will be affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon while the effects of the Northeast Monsoon will affect parts of Northern and Central Luzon.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains in Cagayan Valley.

The easterlies and shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Quezon, Aurora, Caraga, Davao Region, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin.

Flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Sa Metro Manila, maging sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, ay magiging [bahagyang] maulap hanggang sa maulap ang ating kalangitan at meron po tayong tiyansa ng mga isolated na mga pag-ulan – ito ‘yung mga biglaan at panandaliang pag-ulan, pagkidlat, at pagkulog dulot ng localized thunderstorms,” Castañeda said

Castañeda said no other weather disturbances are being monitored around the Philippines Area of Responsibility except for those weather systems.

Sa kasalukuyan ay wala tayong minomonitor na sama ng panahon na maaaring makaapekto dito sa ating bansa,” she added.
