Cabbage Farmer Decides to Give Away Their Harvest Due to Low-Prices

Cabbage Farmer Chooses Generosity Over Waste Due to Low Prices

DALAGUETE, SOUTHERN CEBU – A generous cabbage farmer decided to give away their harvest due to extremely low prices.

A cabbage farmer in Dalaguete town, southern Cebu, made an admirable decision on Friday, (January 5, 2024). Due to extremely low prices in the market and an oversupply of cabbage, the farmer preferred to give away their harvest instead of letting it go to waste.

Yamah Requina, a Facebook user, shared that rather than discarding the cabbages, the farmer chose to share them with others to prevent unnecessary waste. He explained the farmer’s decision to give away the produce was due to the low buying price of cabbage in the market.

(Due to the very low price of cabbages, the farmer decided to give them away instead of throwing them, so others can make use of them)

Residents eagerly flocked to the truck, availing themselves of the unexpected bounty of free vegetables. Those who received the complimentary cabbages expressed their gratitude for the farmer’s generosity.

His act of kindness not only helps the community by providing fresh produce but also portrays the challenge faced by farmers due to the economic factors affecting the vegetable market.

The incident shows the impact of market conditions on the decisions of local farmers and their commitment to finding alternative ways to share their harvest when faced with oversupply and low prices.
