PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that northeast monsoon and easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (December 26, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The amihan and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Patrick del Mundo reported that the northeast monsoon will bring rains over several areas, particularly in Luzon. The easterlies will be affecting the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.

“Sa kasalukuyan ay patuloy ang pag-iral ng amihan sa may bahagi ng Luzon, at yung easterlies naman ang siyang nakakaapekto sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao,” Del Mundo said.

The Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Aurora, and Quezon.

The easterlies will bring cloudy weather over Caraga, Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, except for Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, the rest of Bicol Region, and Palawan.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, the rest of the Bicol Region, and Palawan.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon will be rough. Moderate to rough seas are expected over the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao’s eastern sections.

The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

Gale warnings were raised in the following areas:

•          Batanes

•          Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands

•          Ilocos Norte

•          Ilocos Sur

•          La Union

•          Pangasinan

•          Isabela

•          Aurora

•          Kalayaan Islands
