Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Sarangani, December 26, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.1 magnitude quake in Sarangani today, December 26, 2023. Here are the details.
Following the 4.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Sarangani a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province, Davao Occidental. According to the agency, the quake hit Sarangani today with a magnitude of 4.1.
The earthquake today that struck Sarangani, Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 02:42 p.m., was tectonic in origin.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental province was located at 04.10°North, 126.57°East – 193 km South 41° East of Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani. It had a depth of focus of 145 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
