PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan will bring light rains over some parts of the country.

On Saturday (December 9, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja reported that the Northeast Monsoon affecting Extreme Northern Luzon.

“Patuloy pa rin pong umiiral ang easterlies o mainit na hangin galling sa Pacific Ocean at ito pa rin po ang nagdadala generally ng mainit na panahon at mga pulo-pulong pag-ulan lamang ,” Estareja said.

The Northeast Monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

The Easterlies /Localized Thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over whole Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro as well as Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

“Sa ngayon po ay wala tayong nakataas na gale warning sa mga matataas na pag-alon pero inaasahan pa rin po ang mga pag-alon dito sa may Northern Luzon at hanggang 3 metro po ito at delikado pa rin sa mga maliliit na sasakyang pandagat,” he added.

No tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippines Area of Responsibility within the next few days.
