Blacklist, AP.Bren Start Strong at the Opening of M5 World Championship
Philippine Esports teams Blacklist International and AP.Bren started the ML:BB M5 World Championship strong against foreign foes.
Blacklist International commenced their third consecutive Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship with a decisive 2-0 victory over RRQ Akira. Deploying a reconfigured lineup compared to the previous world championships, Blacklist demonstrated a formidable performance against RRQ Akira.
The Codebreakers efficiently dispatched the Liga LATAM champions, concluding the series in a swift 11 minutes. Adding an element of surprise, Blacklist chose Estes for Renejay “Renejay” Bacarse, a hero synonymous with the team.
Although facing challenges in securing turtle objectives initially, Blacklist rebounded after the 10-minute mark, gradually gaining control of RRQ Akira’s territory, based on the report. They sealed the victory in the 28th minute, capitalizing on a misplay by the Brazilian team.
Simultaneously, AP.Bren secured a 2-0 triumph over Myanmar’s Burmese Ghouls in Group C. These victories provide both Filipino squads with an advantageous position, considering that only two out of the four teams in each group will progress to the knockout stage.
AP.Bren and Blacklist International are both aiming for their second world championships. AP.Bren emerged victorious in M2 in Singapore in January 2021 under the name Bren Esports, while Blacklist International secured the title in M3 in the same country in December 2021.
AP.Bren and Blacklist International are vying for advancement among 14 other teams from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Russia, Myanmar, the United States, and Mongolia. The winner of the M5 championship will claim the top prize of $300,000 (over P16.5 million).
