Michelle Dee Wins Miss Universe 2023 Best National Costume

The winner of Best National Costume in Miss Universe 2023 is Michelle Dee of the Philippines.

Philippines’ Michelle Dee wins Best National Costume at Miss Universe 2023 and here are her other winnings.

Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios is this year’s Miss Universe queen. She makes history as the first Miss Universe winner for her country. 1st runner-up is Thailand’s representative while Australia is the 2nd runner-up.

The PH’s representative Michelle Dee had a Top 10 finish.

And just recently, it has been announced that the PH bet won the Best National Costume Award at the international pageant. Dee may not have won the 5th crown for the country but she reigned in the national competition costume. She won through a fan vote and this victory made the awards for the beauty queen four.

Dee’s other winnings are:

  • Spirit of Carnival Award
  • Miss Universe fan vote
  • Gold Winner Of Voice for Change competition

Michelle’s national costume represents the Philippine culture but the airplane design is a nod to her military training as she is an Air Force reservist. It was crafted by Michael Barassi. This is the same designer who did her national costume for Miss Universe Philippines last year.

Her national costume bore a “solihiya” pattern while her wings showed the colors of the Philippine flag, a mural of tourist destinations, and the current tourism slogan, “Love The Philippines”. Her cap also has the “solihiya” pattern.

Her outfit has special details that symbolize her advocacy. The drawing of two passengers is her siblings in the autism spectrum.

It also contained hand-painted sculpture, Cordilleran loom fabrics, hydraulic mechanisms, and LED lights.
